INDONESIAN President Joko Widodo has congratulated Dr Mahathir Mohamad on becoming Malaysia’s 7th prime minister, Bernama reported.

Joko, affectionately known as Jokowi, also congratulated Pakatan Harapan for its win in GE14.

“We (Dr Mahathir and I) spoke on the phone yesterday after he was sworn in at Istana Negara,” Jokowi said, adding he glad the election went on in a “smooth and safe” manner.

He conveyed to Dr Mahathir that he hoped bilateral relations between the two nations would continue to grow.
