After Upko, LDP next to abandon sinking BN ship

The Malaysian Insight

LIBERAL Democratic Party (LDP) has abandoned Barisan Nasional, just as Upko is shutting the door on its exit from the foundering coalition in Sabah.

Sabah’s only Chinese-based party decided to pull out just as Sabah BN conceded defeat at the polls.

LDP president Teo Chee Kang had also failed to retain his Tanjong Kapor seat, losing to Warisan candidate Chong Chen Bin by a 2,992 vote majority.

“LDP has suffered a major setback and we now heed the message that Malaysians want a regime change…

“I have discussed this with the supreme council members and the consensus is for LDP to pull out from BN,” said Teo.

The meeting was held at party headquarters yesterday night.

Yesterday, United Pasok Momogun Murut Organisation (Upko) announced it was leaving BN. It has since joined forces with Parti Warisan Sabah to form a coalition state government.– May 11, 2018.
