ABDUL Hadi Awang is agreeable to the formation of a unity government with Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan in Perak on the condition that the majority of executive councillors be Muslims.
The Islamist party chief said a unity government would resolve the impasse in the state that sees BN and PH both requiring PAS’ support to form the state government.
PH has 29 seats while BN has 27. PAS, with three seats, is in a positon to tilt the balance of power in the state.
“PAS is offering the formation of a unity government (a government without opposition) made up of all political parties (PAS, BN and PH) on the condition that the unity government is led by a Muslim who has the support of the majority of the Muslim state assemblymen.
“The majority of the state excos must also be Muslim,” PAS’ president said in a statement.
His statement follows the Perak sultan’s request that BN show proof of the majority support it claims it has by presenting 30 Perak assemblymen who support its bid to form the state government to him by tomorrow.
The sultan also gave PH the same option and told its representatives to do the same. – May 11, 2018.
