Shafie is Sabah chief minister

The Malaysian Insight

SHAFIE Apdal has sworn-in as the chief minister, say party sources.

About 300 Parti Warisan Sabah supporters are gathered outside the Istana Negeri, where the party president is meeting with the head of state. As the crowd waited, they grew anxious, chanting “Sabah Ubah” and “Down with and goodbye to Umno”.

Earlier, two Umno and three Upko assemblymen defected to join Warisan.

The five are Abdul Muis Picho (Sebatik) and Hamisa Samat (Tanjong Batu) from Umno, and Abidin Madingkir (Panginatan), Ewon Benedick (Kadamaian) and Bobbey Suan (Nawaban) from Upko.

With the additions, Warisan has 34 state seats and a simple majority in the state assembly. BN is left with 24 state seats.

Sabahans eager to see a state government with Shafie at the helm may have to wait for Musa Aman and his cabinet to resign. – May 11, 2018.
