SELAT Klang assemblyman Abdul Rashid Asari should vacate his seat if he wishes to keep his dignity, Bersatu information chief Razali Idris said.
Razali was responding in kind to Rashid, who had said that Bersatu would lose support if it stood with PAS.
“Rashid has no dignity, no guts, and is an ungrateful person. He won because of Perikatan Nasional (PN), which has PAS’ support. He did not win because of himself or his name,” Razali said.
“If he wants to make such comments, he should have dignity and vacate the seat that he won with the support of the coalition,” Razali told The Malaysian Insight.
Free Malaysia Today quoted Razali as saying that Bersatu will become less popular the longer it remains a PAS ally.
The Bersatu assemblyman, who has switched sides to back Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, said Bersatu’s losses could be pinned on the Islamist party, which he said was “too extreme”.
Razali said that the Selat Klang assemblyman should refrain from commenting on PN or its members now that he is an ally to the Pakatan Harapan government.
“Rashid doesn’t need to talk anymore about Bersatu or PN. He has changed sides and has bashed Bersatu,” said Razali.
“He doesn’t need to teach us what to do. Bersatu and PAS in PN are very strong. We already control many states and are close to capturing even Selangor.
“Rashid’s opinion is the opinion of a weak person, a person who has lost the fight.
“What are you waiting for, Rashid? Vacate the seat and let’s fight it out in the election,” Razali said.
Rashid, who joined PH leaders on the Kuala Kubu Baharu campaign trail, said he distrusted PAS.
He said that after all the preaching about religion, the party could not even honour a simple agreement.
Rashid said that when PN was discussing seat allocations for the 2022 general election, it was agreed in writing that Bersatu would run for Kapar, only for PAS to stake its claim on the seat at the last minute.
PAS youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden also hit out at Rashid, saying the ex-Bersatu man goes where the wind blows.
“There is no use talking about a person who doesn’t have a strong mind,” Afnan, who is the Alor Star lawmaker, told The Malaysian Insight
“He is a someone who doesn’t know where he stands but he wants to tell the party what to do.
“I don’t want to waste my time on him. He is no use to PN.” – May 16, 2024.
