PARTI Warisan Sabah will not recognise the newly formed Sabah government as it does not have the full mandate of the people, said its president, Shafie Apdal, today.
According to Shafie, Warisan won 35 seats in the polls but due to a recount and bribes, the seats fell into Barisan Nasional’s hands.
“There have been many challenges and cheating going on. There were ‘hot tents’ set up by BN to give voters money as an inducement to surrender their votes to BN. They never got the mandate from the people.
“I want to make it clear that Warisan did not have funds to give out to the people, but we still got people of all races to vote for us,” he said.
Shafie said that when United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) left BN, giving Warisan their five state seats, he informed the palace about it. However, the five assemblymen subsequently left Upko and pledged their allegiance to BN.
“At the early stages, I contacted Jeffrey Kitingan but later, he denied us. I suspect he was bought by BN.
“The five Upko assemblymen were all at Sri Gaya and I suspect they were pressured to betray their own president.” – May 11, 2018.
