THE Yang di-Pertuan Agong has indicated that he is willing to grant Anwar Ibrahim a full and immediate pardon, Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today.

The prime minister said the Agong conveyed this intention to DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng when they met at Istana Negara yesterday.

“The Agong has indicated to one of us, actually to Guan Eng, that he is willing to pardon immediately,” Dr Mahathir said.

The Pakatan Harapan chairman said Anwar will be released upon the granting of the royal pardon..

“We will go through the proper process of obtaining a pardon for Anwar. It is going to be a full pardon which means he should be released immediately when he is pardoned,” he said.

Anwar will be free to partake in politics upon being released but must face an election if he wants to be a lawmaker.

“He is free to participate fully in politics.” – May 11, 2018.
