DR Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, the political secretary to the PAS president, has been sworn in as the new Terengganu menteri besar.
The aerospace expert took his oath at 9pm, in the presence of Sultan Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin.
Samsuri, who is also PAS election director, named 10 exco members, comprising senior party leaders in the state.
They are Satiful Bahri Mamat (Paka), Dr Alias Razak (Bukit Tunggal), Mohd Nor Hamzah (Bukit Payong), Ariffin Deraman (Alor Limbat), Wan Sukairi Wan Abdullah (Wakaf Mempelam), Tengku Hassan Omar (Ladang), Hanafiah Mat (Cukai), Dr Azman Ibrahim (Jabi), Dr Mamad Puteh (Kuala Berang) and Mohd Nurkhuzaini Ab Rahman (Kota Putera).
The Islamist party won 22 out of Terengganu’s 32 state seats, wresting control of the state from BN, which won only 10 seats.
Earlier today, state PAS commissioner Hussein Awang said the menteri besar and his excos will begin work at their Wisma Darul Iman offices on Monday. – May 10, 2018.
