THE sultan of Selangor has approved the appointment of Mohamed Azmin Ali as menteri besar, with the latter to be sworn in tomorrow at 3pm at the Shah Alam palace.  

Azmin had sought an audience with the sultan at noon today to inform him of the results of the 14th general election.

Azmin, who was menteri besar in the last term, told the sultan that he had received the support of the state assembly to be appointed as menteri besar.

Pakatan Harapan won 51 out of 56 state seats in Selangor.

The sultan also expressed his hope that the state government of Selangor would be formed as soon as possible after receiving the mandate from the people.

The speed is to ensure smooth administration of the state, according to Mohamad Munir Bani, private secretary to the sultan of Selangor. – May 10, 2018.
