TENGKU Razaleigh Hamzah said he had not expected Barisan Nasional to be crushed so badly in the 14th general election.

The veteran Gua Musang MP said he had, however, expected BN would lose due to the strong campaign mounted by the opposition.

“I was not shocked. I expected things would work out this way, but not this badly.

“The urban voters went back and it had an impact,” he said at the Putra World Trade Centre after a meeting with BN chairman Najib Razak.

Last night, PH, an informal coalition, claimed victory. Early today, the Election Commission declared that PKR had won 104 seats, while its ally won nine in Sabah and Sarawak, giving them a total of 113.

A party needs 112 seats to form the federal government. BN only managed to win 79 parliamentary seats.

On Najib’s future as Umno chief, Tengku Razaleigh said Najib must use his judgment on the matter.

“I’m sure he must feel some pressure to quit. That I don’t think anybody can deny but you’ll have to ask him personally.

“I suppose he will decide when the time comes,” he said. – May 10, 2018.
