THE Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), the custodian of national football administration, is being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki is reported to have said that the investigation started on Wednesday.

He added that MACC officers had also taken a couple of files from FAM.

“I can confirm that the MACC has begun an investigation into a few allegations. Most of the allegations are related to administration issues.

“Based on the public claims, the MACC launched its investigation three days ago (Wednesday) and we have taken a couple of files from FAM as part of the investigation,” he was quoted as saying in the New Straits Times today.

He added that MACC would not be looking into claims of abuse in administrative matters but only investigate claims made on criminal matters.

“To date, we do not want to reveal any details on the investigation. We urge the public not to speculate but to allow the investigation to be conducted.

“The MACC will investigate the matter professionally and act fairly to all parties involved,” Azam said.

An email from UltrasFAM had alleged mismanagement of funds and fraud in FAM. It also alleged that FAM president Hamidin Mohd Amin gets a monthly salary of RM90,000.

Hamidin said FAM was open to being investigated, but it was later revealed that FAM will let its independent Integrity Unit look into the issue. – April 6, 2024.
