Upko dumps BN for Warisan

UNITED Pasok Momogun KadazanDusun Murut (Upko) has decided to leave Barisan Nasional (BN) and join hands with Parti Warisan Sabah. 

Its president, Wilfred Madius Tangau, said he would inform the Sabah governor that it had switched sides.

“The people have spoken and the party’s supreme council has decided to leave BN and join Warisan.

“Of course, we owe our gratitude to BN for giving us a chance and listening to our views, but now, the message is clear and the people have spoken,” he said in Sutera Harbour, Kota Kinabalu, today after meeting with Warisan president, Shafie Apdal.

With the five Upko seats, Warisan will have a 34-seat majority and can form the state government.

The election results left Warisan and BN tied with 29 state seats, although BN was rumoured to have the backing of Sabah Starm, which has two state seats – Bingkor and Tambunan. – May 10, 2018.
