DR Mahathir Mohamad hopes to take the oath of office by 5pm today.
The Pakatan Harapan chairman said as there was no interim government in Malaysia now, it would be crucial for them to take power as soon as possible.
“I want to emphasise that this party has already won a clear majority and therefore, we are entitled to form government.
“Currently, there is no government of Malaysia. We want to make it clear that there is urgency here to form the government by today,” he said at a press conference today.
“Any delay will mean that we have no government, no law and no constitution. We do not have all those institutions which are created to give form to the government of this country.”
The former prime minister also quipped that Najib Razak’s tenure is “over” and emphasised that he was taking over the top job. – May 10, 2018.
