CARETAKER Selangor menteri besar Mohamed Azmin Ali lauded Selangor folk and Malaysia for delivering a “100% Malaysian tsunami” in the 14th general election yesterday.

He said today the results defied his expectations, with Selangor PH grabbing 51 out of 56 state seats.

“(It was) a tsunami that swept across the entire nation for both state seats as well as parliamentary seats.

“In Selangor, we witnessed landslide majorities in favour of Pakatan Harapan. We have won 51 out of 56 seats in the state – a stunning 91%.

“This exceptional result exceeded my own expectations of 40 seats. I am truly humbled by the support shown by the people for our policies and our principles,” he said in a statement today.

PH won 104 seats, followed by Barisan Nasional (79), PAS (18), DAP (nine), Parti Warisan Sabah (eight), Solidairi Tanah Airku (one) and independent candidates (three) in GE14.

Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, defended and won the Gombak parliamentary seat and Bukit Antarabangsa state seat.

He said the people had chosen constitutional democracy over kleptocracy, rule of law over rule of men, and justice over injustice.

With the people putting their trust in PH and expecting a new future, it is time for the new government to work doubly hard and deliver PH’s pledges well, he said. – May 10, 2018.
