Pakatan will not seek revenge, says Dr Mahathir

The Malaysian Insight

PAKATAN Harapan’s first act when they come into power is not to seek revenge on any individual but to restore the rule of law.

The coalition’s chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad said they would not be going after caretaker prime minister Najib Razak for his involvement in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.

“We are not seeking revenge. All we want is restore rule of law,” he said during a press conference at Sheraton Hotel tonight.

PH unofficially announced that they will form government tomorrow and Dr Mahathir will be sworn in as prime minister.

When asked if Najib had contacted him, Dr Mahathir said he has not heard from him after the election results.

“I have not heard from Najib. He has gone silent.”

Najib has been embroiled in the 1MDB fiasco that has taken the nation by storm and irked many voters, who has now voted Barisan Nasional out of power.

PH will also seek a royal pardon for jailed PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim.

“We will work on Anwar’s pardon. He will be released in June. Once he is pardoned he is eligible to be prime minister again, but you will have to stand for election to be MP because the prime minister has to be an MP, or at least a senator,” Dr Mahathir explained. – May 10, 2018.
