GERAKAN president and caretaker plantation, industries and commodities minister Mah Siew Keong was defeated by 11,179 votes in Teluk Intan.
Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming polled 29,170 votes, Mah (17,991) and PAS’ Dr Ahmad Ramadzan (6,494), according to official results released by the Election Commission.
The contest between Mah and Nga was supposed to be a close one.
This was because Mah won the seat for BN in a 2014 by-election by a razor-thin margin of 238 votes.
Mah first won Teluk Intan in 1999, defended it in 2004 but lost the seat to DAP in 2008 by 1,470 votes and 2013 by 7,313 votes.
Meanwhile, Barisan Nasional retained three federal seats in Perak based on official results: Pasir Salak, Bagan Datok and Parit. – May 10, 2018.
