PAS retains Kelantan for 7th term

The Malaysian Insight

DESPITE stiff odds and expectations to the contrary, PAS has retained Kelantan, giving the Islamist party a seventh term in the northeastern state.

PAS managed to win 25 seats in the 45-seat state assembly, despite an exodus of supporters to the Pakatan Harapan coalition.

Its majority in the state assembly was cut by seven seats. In 2013, PAS won the state with 32 seats.

PAS first won the state in 1990 with the help of Umno splinter party Semangat 46. – May 9, 2018.
