PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his cabinet members today signed a special postcard, addressed to United Nations secretary-general Antonio Guterres, urging the world body to accept Palestine’s membership.

Anwar in a Facebook post said the special postcard also demanded a halt to violence and cruelty against Palestinians by the Zionist regime.

“This special postcard will be submitted through Malaysia’s permanent representative to the UN. I hope this sincere voice of Malaysians gets serious attention from Guterres,” he said.

Anwar said Malaysians could also send the special postcards to Guterres, and that the postcards would be available for sale from tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Communications Ministry in a statement today said the postcard, which bears the words “We appeal for the UN to accept the State of Palestine as a full member. Ceasefire now!”, was signed by Anwar and unity government ministers before today’s cabinet meeting.

The postcards can be purchased at all post offices at RM2 each (including an RM0.90 stamp) or on Pos Malaysia Bhd’s website. – Bernama, January 17, 2024.
