PARTI Warisan Sabah is expected to win the state, with a party insider saying it has won 32 out of the 60 state seats.
The party is also confident of taking at least seven parliamentary seats out of the 16 it contested.
Warisan is standing in 45 state seats in its maiden elections.
In 2013, BN won 48 state seats in Sabah.
Results for the state have yet to be made official due to objections and recounts at counting and polling centres.
Only one official result and two unofficial results have been announced in Sabah after 10pm.
The atmosphere at Warisan president Mohd Shafie Apdal’s house in Kota Kinabalu is upbeat even though the official results have yet to be released.
Present were Warisan deputy president Darell Leiking, secretary Loretto Padua Jr and treasurer Terrence Siambun, among others.
“Just wait,” a smiling Leiking told the press when asked about the unofficial results.
SAPP president Yong Teck Lee, in a statement, said this is the dawn of a new non-Barisan Nasional era in the state.
Meanwhile, at Sri Gaya, the official residence of caretaker chief minister Musa Aman, the mood is sombre. BN incumbents are seen loitering within the building’s compound.
The road leading to the residence has been barricaded, and is being heavily guarded by police officers.
Civilians have been barred from using the road, which also leads to the state palace, where chief ministers receive their appointments from the head of state. – May 9, 2018.
