Tsunami carrying Dr Mahathir, Pakatan

The Malaysian Insight

A WAVE of support would carry Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Pakatan Harapan to power and early indications are that their reading is spot on, pundits said.

Unofficial results indicate that Malacca and Johor have fallen to the opposition and PH has also made significant gains in Sarawak, the traditional fixed deposit of Barisan Nasional.

Insiders told Malaysia Decides that the early flow of results has surprised BN chief Najib Razak but he remains confident that BN would win a majority of 222 parliament seats. But no longer does he believe that BN would win 125 seats.

Ilham Centre Hisomuddin Bakar predicted that the wave seen in urban centres during the campaign period would move to rural Malaysia and devour BN politicians.

How prescient it seems with several BN ministers and deputy ministers, such as MIC president Dr S. Subramaniam, MCA’s Liow Tiong Lai, ‎Nur Jazlan Mohamed, Chua Tee Yong and Razali Ibrahim all biting the dust.

Things are bound to get worse with Gerakan’s Mah Siew Kong trailing badly in Teluk Intan.

As it stands, PH looks set to surprise even their most optimistic observers. A few days ago, DAP’s Lim Guan Eng said PH could win as many as 100 parliamentary seats in the peninsula. – May 9, 2018.
