PARTI Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) central committee member S. Arutchelvan has lost the Semenyih seat.
In a Facebook post this evening, he conceded defeat in the four-cornered fight against Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional and PAS candidates, even before the official result was announced.
He said it is clear that the people want change and only support PH.
“The preliminary result has shown that PSM has lost in Semenyih. Looks like the people want change, and will only acknowledge one opposition party – PH.
“This result shows that the people want to reject BN and all third parties that contest in the elections.”
Arutchelvan said he respects the result and hopes PH will wrest Putrajaya.
Semenyih’s incumbent is BN’s Johan Abdul Aziz, who is also Selangor BN chairman. In the last polls, he won the state seat by 4,757 votes.
Arutchelvan also contested in the 2013 polls, where he received only 5,568 votes, compared with Johan’s 18,000 votes and PKR candidate Hamidi A. Hasan’s 13,100 votes. – May 9, 2018.
