THE Election Commission should extend the voting period for voters to fulfil their duties, PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar said.
Pakatan Harapan’s Permatang Pauh candidate said as the queues at polling stations were long, the 5pm deadline should be extended.
“I urge the EC to push back the deadline to allow voters to pick their respective leaders,” Nurul Izzah said in a statement today.
She added that she was “disappointed” over how the EC has handled the matter, especially since its chairman, Mohd Hashim Abdullah, had admitted there were faults.
“The failure of the EC to control the situation in the country will influence the future of the country for the next five years,” she said.
Voters in Gombak had complained that the queues, especially for senior citizens, were too long.
Some voters had to wait three to four hours before being able to cast their votes. – May 9, 2018.
