WITH less than an hour to go before polling closes, Dr Mahathir Mohamad is confident that voter turnout nationwide will reach more than 80%.

The Pakatan Harapan chairman said that some places had already reached beyond 80%.

“The average at this moment could be about 70%. We will wait until 5pm and maybe we can get more,” he said at the SK Ulu Melaka polling station in Langkawi.

As for Langkawi, Dr Mahathir said that it looked like the seat could be won.

“I can’t say how many percent I would win the seat by.”

Dr Mahathir is contesting the Langkawi parliamentary seat, making a comeback after having retired from politics 15 years ago.

The former prime minister is confident that PH will do well in the polls, saying that he has “a good feeling” about the opposition’s chances. – May 9, 2018.
