DR Mahathir Mohamad is confident about Pakatan Harapan’s performance at the 14th general election, saying that he has “a good feeling” about the coalition’s chances.
The PH chairman said it looks like a favourable outcome for the opposition pact based on the number of people who tuned in to his message to the nation last night in Langkawi.
“I don’t know about the (statistics) of the voting but based on my speech, more than 200,000 people heard it whereas only 13,000 tuned in to Najib’s (Razak) speech.
“I hope the people are interested in what I had to say and hope that they can be influenced (to vote). I have a good feeling,” he said after casting his vote at SK Titi Gajah in Kepala Batas, Kedah.
Earlier, the former prime minister visited two polling centres in Langkawi to see the turnout.
Dr Mahathir is contesting the Langkawi parliamentary seat after retiring from politics 15 years ago.
“The turnout in Langkawi has been slow but we expect more people to turn up throughout the day.”
Dr Mahathir then criticised the caretaker prime minister for handing out election goodies.
“For many people, it’s (the goodies) a lot of nonsense.” – May 9, 2018.
