Voter turnout hits 55% as of 1pm, says EC

VOTER turnout has hit 55% as of 1pm, said the Election Commission.

An hour before that, turnout was at 47%, out of the 14.9 million Malaysians registered to vote in this election.

There are still long queues at several voting stations.

The PKR candidate for the Petaling Jaya parliamentary seat, Maria Chin Abdullah, had earlier urged EC officials at the SMK Tropicana polling station to speed up the voting process as she was worried that some voters would not have enough time to cast their votes before the 5pm deadline. – May 9, 2018.
