Govt will investigate spam call attacks on BN politicians, says Najib

The Malaysian Insight

CARETAKER prime minister Najib Razak has condemned the spam calls that Barisan Nasional politicians were flooded with this morning.

He said that the attacks were done to prevent communications from the leaders.

“I condemn the spam calls that have been received by most BN politicians from international numbers. The spammed phones have not been able to function as normal,” Najib said in a tweet.

The BN president also said that several websites the party ran were also attacked.

“A lot of BN websites cannot be accessed either. I have ordered for immediate action to be taken,” Najib said.

He retweeted a tweet of the caretaker defence minister, whose phone security had also been breached.

Several politicians across the divide had received similar calls this morning.

Among the Pakatan Harapan leaders affected were DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, caretaker Selangor menteri besar Azmin Ali, and PKR’s communication director Fahmi Fadzil, among others.

Those affected on the BN side included caretaker youth and sports minister Khairy Jamaluddin, Umno’s Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Muar candidate Razali Ibrahim. – May 9, 2018.
