Polling stations open for Malaysia's GE14

8,253 polling stations opened simultaneously nationwide at 8am today, with thousands of people arriving to wait in line from as early as an hour before to cast their votes.

Bernama reported 14,449,200 registered voters for this election, which will involve 28,115 voting streams at schools, community centres, and multi-function halls scattered throughout the country.

Polling will close at 5pm today.

Almost 500,000 Malaysians are registered as postal voters, early voters, and absent voters.

A total of 222 parliamentary seats and 505 state seats are being contested this election.

The Election Commission estimates that as much as 85% of voters will be casting their ballots today.

The results of the election will be announced from as early as 9pm tonight. – May 9, 2018.
