PARTI Warisan Sabah deputy president Darell Leiking had the crowd at the Pakatan Harapan-Warisan ceramah in Lido, Penampang, last night in stitches, providing brief relief from the pressure built up on the eve of polling day.
He said Sabahans will create history if they vote out Barisan Nasional, which has ruled the state since the collapse of the Parti Bersatu Sabah government in 1994.
He said the current generation of BN leaders deserves to be in “the museum” after being in power for more than two decades.
“Tomorrow (today), Sabahans will make history as we have had enough of the BN regime. We will send these ‘antiques’ to the museum. Sabahans will vote them out and usher in a new government,” he told a crowd of 2,000 supporters.
Present were candidates Tan Lee Fat (DAP-Likas), Chan Foong Hin (DAP-Kota Kinabalu), Jannie Lasimbang (DAP-Kapayan), Christina Liew (PKR-Api Api and Tawau), Phoong Jin Zhe (DAP-Luyang) and Jenifer Lasimbang (Warisan-Moyog).
Earlier, Chan recapped the PH manifesto for the state, saying it is similar to Warisan’s, and both parties can form a “mixed government”.
“There are seven main points in the PH manifesto, including the demand for the return of state rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963, (and boosting) transportation and communications, power generation, human resources and social security, and health.
“Warisan, too, wants the return of autonomy, (better) education and the power to decide on minimum wage.”
He said DAP wants history textbooks used in the state to be revised so that Sabahan children can learn more about the state’s history.
“We want our children to understand more about what Sabah is and its history, (and this will also allow) us to create our own history.” – May 9, 2018.
