SEVERAL states will see heavy rain in the morning of polling day, while most states in Peninsular Malaysia will experience thunderstorms later in the day, the Meteorological Department (MET) forecasted.
Penang, Perlis, Kedah, Perak and Johor will experience showers in the early hours of Wednesday, while the MET predicted clear skies in the capital Kuala Lumpur as well as other states like Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Negri Sembilan and Malacca.
In East Malaysia, rain is expected in several areas in Sabah like Labuan, Tawau and Sandakan.
As for Sarawak, there would be rain in Sarikei, Sibu, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang while Kuching, Samarahan and Miri will enjoy clear skies.
Most states, including Borneo, will experience thunderstorms later in the day, just as results of Malaysia’s 14th general election will begin trickling in.
During the 13th general election, voter turnout was at 84.84%, where some 11 million people came out to vote.
The Election Commission (EC) expects the voter turnout to be more than 85% this time around, while analysts say actual numbers will be lower due to the mid-week polling day. – May 8, 2018.
