DAP's website, BM news portal attacked by unknown parties

DAP’s website, dapmalaysia.org, and its Bahasa Malaysia news portal, Roketkini.com, were under attack by unknown parties.

In a statement today, the party’s headquarters said they were told at 4.24pm of a massive DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) which targeted the server IP address directly.

A DDoS attack is an attempt to disrupt an online service by overwhelming it with traffic from various sources.

“The attack was large enough to interrupt the network of the data centre.

“As today is the eve of the 14th general election, we would not be surprised if our political opponents, namely Barisan Nasional (BN) and/or their supporters are the culprits behind this DDoS attack – judging by the dirty and underhanded tactics used against Pakatan Harapan (PH) during the current election campaign,” it said.

They added they are currently working to get both sides running again.

The attack came after the hacking of Rafizi Ramli’s blog today.

The PKR vice-president had earlier issued a statement saying that his blog, which contained documents related to financial scandals involving caretaker prime minister Najib Razak, was hacked today.

Rafizi was told at 4.04pm by the company hosting his blog that all of the documents in the blog had also been erased.

His phone line as well as Invoke Malaysia’s were also hacked, and his number was used to send messages belittling PH. – May 8, 2018.
