CABBIES must vote for Pakatan Harapan as Barisan Nasional has forsaken them, said a taxi company founder today.

Shamsubahrin Ismail, who founded Big Blue Taxi Services, said BN favours e-hailing services over traditional taxis.

“I plead for all taxi drivers, including those in Sabah and Sarawak, to vote for PH tomorrow.

“I am saddened by the cruelty brought forth by Najib and Nancy… they became ‘directors’ of the e-hailing industry instead of helping taxi drivers,” said a tearful Shamsubahrin, referring to caretaker prime minister Najib Razak and caretaker minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nancy Shukri, who is in charge of taxis.

He said the caretaker government’s move to prioritise e-hailing services has caused the “collapse” of the taxi industry.

“Tomorrow, today, is the last day for you, BN. I love you, but I want you gone. I don’t want you in this country any more.

“I don’t want you, Nancy, Najib. I’ve had enough of you… (for) what you have done to me, the industry and the drivers.”

Last week, PH prime minister candidate Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he will review e-hailing services to level the playing field for taxi drivers, should the pact wrest Putrajaya in the 14th general election. – May 8, 2018.
