IT would be a huge achievement for DAP if if could fulfil at least 10% of its election promises, former MCA vice-president Ti Lian Ker said.

The Chinese-based party is now a key partner in the Pakatan Harapan-led unity government of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

“If it cannot deliver 100%, at least 10 to 20% is expected,” Ti, a senator, told The Malaysian Insight.

“Now that the unity government has completed its first year in office, it’s time for DAP to fulfil its poll promises.

“It’s the time to stop playing political games and earnestly fulfill its commitments.

“Today, the DAP has the most number of MPs so it should perform.”

Ti said DAP’s biggest unfulfilled promise is to restore local government elections.

Local Government and Development Minister Nga Kor Ming, who is a DAP member, has promised to grant 999-year land titles to new villages, he said.

Ti asked Nga if there had been any discussions with the state chief ministers on the subject.

“Is there any progress?”

He said this showed DAP was not sincere about its promises.

Ti said because DAP could not fulfil its promises, it should not ask for votes in the next general election. – December 21, 2023
