PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar said police personnel she had met on her campaign trail had voiced support for Pakatan Harapan (PH).
The PH candidate for Permatang Pauh said when she visited the district police station during her campaign, police officers received her well.
“They took selfies with me. They talked to me. They said this time, PDRM (Malaysian Royal Police) is with PH.
“Hey Umno, BN (Barisan Nasional), you be careful. This is our time,” she said at a PH mega ceramah at the Penang Esplanade last night.
Thousands of Penangites had gathered in the rain to listen to PH leaders and candidates contesting in the state.
Nurul Izzah, who was formerly Lembah Pantai MP but is now defending her father Anwar Ibrahim’s traditional stronghold in Penang, said if the police, the army and teachers – civil servants – could support PH this election, the opposition pact would surely take Putrajaya.
“We will win and we will save Malaysia. We must win honourably so we will right the wrongs!” said the popular politician dubbed the Reform Princess.
Nurul Izzah, who like the crowd, was drenched in the rain, told the people not to get sick.
“Go home, take a shower, take ginseng or whatever. Don’t go down with a fever. Get up tomorrow and continue campaigning. Come Wednesday, you go out and vote.”
Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow, who spoke earlier, said when the time came, there should be a peaceful transition.
“PH chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he expected the other side to create trouble if it loses.
“We have to make sure this does not happen. We have to fight trouble with calmness,” he said. – May 7, 2018
