Dr Mahathir questions BN's sincerity in helping Langkawi folk

The Malaysian Insight

DR Mahathir Mohamad tonight questioned Barisan Nasional’s (BN) sincerity in helping the people of Langkawi.

The Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman said BN only comes to Langkawi once every five years during election time to dish out goodies in return for support.

“BN recently came here doing things which they could have done in the last five years.

“Why wait so long? They are not sincere because they want the people’s support, but they don’t know that the people here have committed to PH,” he said after a speech at the coastal fishing village of Bukit Malut.

More than 2,000 people turned up to listen to the former prime minister and cheered him on, shouting “long live Tun”.

Dr Mahathir said if there was no election, then there would be no goodies.

“Because there is an election, all the party’s are coming here.

“We have an election to elect a government that will take care of the people. So that their children will have a better future.

“But during election time, these party’s promises all kinds of things, but after election they do something else.”

Dr Mahathir also said that Langkawi is no longer BN’s fixed deposit as they have a chance to wrest the island from the caretaker government.

“I always believe that we have a chance and should win this election, but we are worried that Najib (Razak) might do something to frustrate us.” – May 7, 2018.
