PAKATAN Harapan component Amanah today named Nik Omar Nik Abdul Aziz as its Kelantan menteri besar candidate should the pact win the state in the 14th general election.

Bernama reported party vice-president Husam Musa as saying Nik Omar, the son of the late PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, is an important icon.

Nik Omar has been embroiled in a feud with his family over his decision to contest on a PH ticket in Chempaka, the state seat that his father had represented for seven terms.

Last week, he said he had struggled for some time over his decision to run as an Amanah candidate because of the “heavy burden” he carries as Nik Aziz’s eldest son.

He was immediately sacked from PAS following the surprise he pulled on nomination day. – May 7, 2018.
