PAKATAN Harapan has released a video on its 14th general election campaign, featuring an official song of the 1998 Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games.

The video comprises footage of the opposition pact’s campaign efforts, set to Standing in the Eyes of the World, the hit song performed by Malaysian rock queen Ella, and written by Wah Idris and David Gates for the Games.

The sports minister in 1998 was Muhyiddin Yassin, who is now Bersatu president, and the prime minister was Dr Mahathir Mohamad, now PH chairman.

Kuala Lumpur made history that year by being the first Asian city to host the Games. Team events also made their debut in the Games’ 16th edition.

Malaysia finished fourth, winning 10 gold, 14 silver and 12 bronze medals. – May 7, 2018.
