PKR’s Fahmi urges voters to fight ‘Goliath’ in Lembah Pantai

WITH less than 48 hours left to polling day, PKR’s candidate for Lembah Pantai Fahmi Fadzil urged voters to help him defeat Barisan Nasional, the longest-ruling coalition in the democratic world.

Referring to the story of a young boy David who killed a giant called Goliath with a slingshot and stone, Fahmi said the people could also bring down the BN with their votes for Pakatan Harapan candidates.

“Initially, I said that I was David. But actually, no,” he told voters at a ceramah in Bangsar, which is part of the Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituency.

“After nine days of campaigning, listening to voices of the people in Bangsar, in Pantai Dalam, in Sentosa… climbing up and down stairs at the flats, getting in and out of lifts, getting stuck in lifts!

“I understand that I am not David. You all are. I am but a stone. But I am your stone. And together, we will take down Goliath,” said the 37-year-old, who is also PKR communications director.

He also told the crowd that his rival from BN, former minister Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin, had underestimated Fahmi, a first-time contender.

“They used to think of me as a kitten,” he said.

“But now, but now, I think they have heard me roar,” he told the cheering crowd of 1,000 supporters at Bala’s Banana Leaf restaurant last night.

In the last general election, PKR’s Nurul Izzah Anwar defeated Raja Nong Chik in a straight fight in the Lembah Pantai seat. These elections, Nurul Izzah is contesting in Permatang Pauh. – May 7, 2018.
