Govt, not Pakatan, churning out fake news, says Daim

The Malaysian Insight

MUCH of the fake news being spread comes from the government, said former finance minister Daim Zainuddin.

The sacked Umno member, who is on the campaign trail in support of the Dr Mahathir Mohamad-led Pakatan Harapan, cited as an example caretaker deputy minister Ahmad Maslan’s statement that the goods and services tax will drive down prices.

“He said GST will cause the prices of goods to come down, but this is fake news,” Daim told thousands of attendees at PH’s final ceramah in Taman Keramat tonight.

“They said we are coming up with a lot of fake news, but they are the ones who create fake news.”

Daim and former international trade and industry minister Rafidah Aziz have been sacked from Umno for supporting the opposition.

Another former minister Rais Yatim, who is an Umno veteran, is being investigated by the party.

The three have been critical of Umno and caretaker prime minister Najib Razak’s government.

Daim and Rafidah have taken it a step further by openly supporting PH at its campaign events across the country.

The two former Umno veterans joined PH chairman and prime minister candidate Dr Mahathir at a ceramah in Malacca on Friday. – May 6, 2018.
