NAJIB Razak tonight warned Sabahans that Barisan Nasional’s planned development for the state will turn to dust if the opposition takes over.

“Our road ahead is still long (to develop Sabah). Our planning includes ecotourism projects,” the caretaker prime minister told a crowd of 6,000 Kadazandusun Murut supporters at the Kadazandusun Cultural Association Hall in Penampang.

“The bulk of tourists who come to Sabah is from China. Our tourism (industry) will be in trouble if the opposition takes over, as Pakatan Harapan’s choice for prime minister, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, will cancel all the contracts given to us by China.

“This means that our plans to expand Kota Kinabalu International Airport, to draw more tourists, will be turned into a white elephant.”

Present were state BN chairman Musa Aman, United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation acting president WIlfred Madius Tangau, Parti Bersatu Sabah president Joseph Pairin Kitingan, and BN candidates Caesar Mandela Malakun (Penampang), Francis Goh (Kapayan) and Donald Mojuntin (Moyog).

Najib also promised that BN will return the state’s special rights in accordance with the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

He took a dig at PH chairman Dr Mahathir, saying the former prime minister has yet to visit Sabah.

The BN chairman promised to set up a non-Muslim affairs unit to handle inter-religious affairs, and said an English-medium school pilot programme will be established in the state should the coalition get a fresh mandate in the 14th general election. – May 6, 2018.
