Pakatan can take Kedah if outstation voters return, says Mukhriz

FORMER menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir tonight urged Kedahans living outside the state to return to vote for Pakatan Harapan on polling day.

He said the northern state is ripe for PH’s taking, and the help of outstation voters will swing Kedah in the opposition’s favour.

“I know there are many Kedahans in the Klang Valley, maybe thousands of Kedahans in Penang, Selangor, Johor and even Singapore,” he told a crowd of 5,000 supporters at the opposition pact’s grand ceramah in Taman Keramat, Gombak.

“I appeal to all Kedah people to go back in droves to vote for PH in your state.”

He urged the people not to be swayed by goodies offered by Barisan Nasional, especially in the final two days leading up to the 14th general election.

“The people are ready to accept our presence, to bring change not only in Kedah, but the whole country.

“We can’t lose our momentum (or our) spirit in the final days, because various kinds of ‘dedak’ (bribes) will come to you.

“It is to distract us from the real issues, like the goods and services tax and the high cost of living.”

Mukhriz also addressed BN’s use of racial rhetoric to instil fear among Malay voters in rural areas.

“They keep saying DAP will be in power and Lim Kit Siang will be the prime minister, despite PH announcing that our prime minister designate is Dr Mahathir (Mohamad) and our candidate for the first female deputy prime minister’s post is Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.” – May 6, 2018.
