Police question 5 people over Zayn’s murder

FIVE people, including the parents of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, have had their statements recorded by the police, in connection with the murder of the six-year-old autistic boy.

The person who found the body was among the five who spoke to the police.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the boy’s neighbours and his school administrators will also be interviewed to aid in the investigation.

“So far, five people have been called up to give statements, including the victim’s parents. The investigation is ongoing, and the police will also summon several neighbours in the neighbourhood and the school authorities of the victim,” he was quoted as saying in a New Straits Times report today.

The boy was was a pupil at SK Damansara Damai 2.
 
On whether more than one person was suspected to have killed the boy, Hussein said the police are “exploring all possibilities, including the likelihood that the victim may have known the suspect”. 

An examination by the Sungai Buloh Hospital Forensic Department found evidence of injuries in the neck and body, suspected to been inflicted by his abductor.

The case is classified as murder under section 302 of the Penal Code.

Zayn went missing at 12.30pm on Tuesday.

His body was found more than 30 hours later near a river about 200m from his home in Idaman Apartments, Damansara Damai. – December 9, 2023.
