Roadworks to halt on Causeway, Second Link on polling day

The Malaysian Insight

MALAYSIANS working in Singapore will find the way home unobstructed by roadworks on the Causeway and the Second Link from now until May 13..

A Plus Expressways spokesman said month-long road repairs would come to a temporary halt on the crossings.

He was responding to a photo that had gone viral, depicting major roadworks on Causeway, which could deter Malaysians working in the island republic from returning home to vote on May 9.

“That photo must have been an earlier shot because by last Friday, the section of that road had been resurfaced,” the spokesman told The Star.

He said the heavy machinery used by the workmen were parked near the Causeway, but they did not obstruct traffic.

An estimated 300,000 Malaysians travel to Singapore daily to work. – May 6, 2018.
