THE Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court has ordered PAS to pay its former printer the RM656,233.69 it owes.

The court this afternoon allowed NAJ Press Resources (M) Sdn Bhd’s application for a summary judgment (court decision without full trial) against PAS and two other defendants.

Judge Lailatul Zuraida Harron@Harun decided after finding they had previously acknowledged the sum owed through their correspondence.

“The court considered this a clear admission by the defendants regarding their debt to the plaintiff (NAJ Press Resources Sdn Bhd), and it should bind them accordingly,” she said.

She said part of the total sum owed was paid on October 31, 2017, but there was a balance of RM656,233.69.

“The court believes that the defence raised is merely a bare denial, and the facts (raised) about another printing company not relevant to this claim are irrelevant and an attempt to mislead the court,” Lailatul said.

The two defendants were PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan and Harakah publisher Galeri Media Serbanika Sdn Bhd.

The plaintiff’s counsel Putra Taulan Rasul said the civil court also awarded costs of RM3,000.

The defendants’ counsel Mohd Faizi Che Abu said they would appeal against the ruling in the High Court.

They would also apply to stay the lower court ruling, pending disposal of their High Court appeal, he said.

In August 2019, Malaysiakini reported the saga involving Harakah and two of its printers at the time – Angkatan Edaran Enterprise Sdn Bhd and NAJ Press Resources.

Takiyuddin earlier said there was a sum of money owed to the printer, but denied PAS tried to avoid paying. – December 5, 2023.
