RAFIDAH Aziz said she was very happy with her expulsion from Umno as she did not want to have anything to with a party that was “riddled” with problems.
The former trade and industry minister said she welcomed the decision by Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor to expel her.
“I’m very happy. I have not been an active member for years now, or attend any branch meetings, so it really doesn’t matter,” Rafidah told reporters after speaking at a Pakatan Harapan (PH) ceramah tonight in Taman Tun Dr Ismail.
The former Umno supreme council member added that she no longer wanted to be associated with the party as it was corrupt.
“I don’t want any association with a party that’s riddled with problems, non-adherence to the federal constitution, and where the culture has changed so much over the years since I left,” Rafidah said.
Rafidah earlier reminded Malaysians that the current regime has failed them and there needs to be a change of government for the situation in the county to improve.
She appeared tonight to campaign for PH’s Segambut candidate Hannah Yeoh after making an appearance in Malacca last night.
Tengku Adnan said that Rafidah and former finance minister Daim Zainuddin were sacked from Umno as they spoke against the party.
Umno is also investigating former minister Rais Yatim, who has recently spoken out against the party, for indiscipline. – May 5, 2018.
