VOTERS who have lost their MyKads can still vote by bringing copies of reports stating the loss of their MyKads for identity verification on polling day, said Election Commission chairman Mohd Hashim Abdullah.
Bernama reported Hashim as saying voters could also bring their driving licences, limited-validity or international passports with their names, identity card numbers, and pictures to verify their identification.
“The vote of every Malaysian is deeply appreciated, and in a democracy, nothing or nobody can prevent a Malaysian from voting.”
Hashim also addressed concerns that the serial numbers of the ballot papers could be used to identify voters, saying that the numbers were to facilitate the checking and counting of the papers by EC staff, not to identify voters.
“Everyone’s vote is secret and nobody will know except the voters themselves, unless they tell others. – May 5, 2018.
