RAFIDAH Aziz told Malaysians tonight to mull over what the Barisan Nasional government has done for them in the past five years.
The former trade and industry minister said Malaysian should ask themselves over the next few days before casting their vote on May 9.
“Ask yourself have they improved my life? Have they made my children’s lives easier. Don’t ask your neighbour. You decide.
“The power is in your hands. For the first time in history, you are going to change management of this country. Don’t be afraid of change,” Rafidah told some 5,000 people in the capital’s Taman Tun Dr Ismail plush suburb while campaigning for Pakatan Harapan (PH) Segambut candidate Hannah Yeoh.
She gave an analogy on how the government was the contractor whose job was to maintain and take care of house Malaysia.
“Malaysia is a very big bungalow. All of us have a place to live. Ever since two terms ago, the contractors have not been looking after our house.
“All the windows and doors are broken. All of our nice lightings are stolen. This house, our house… the company we contracted to didn’t do its job,” Rafidah said referring to the Barisan Nasional.
Rafidah told the audience they should not be ashamed of change because Malaysia is a beautiful country that only now has a terrible administration.
“This is a blessed country. I love my country but do not like the people who manage it. I’m proud to be a citizen. But I do not like the way it is being governed now. So let’s change. Don’t be afraid,” she said.
Former ministers like Rafidah and Daim Zainuddin have come out to openly campaign for PH during this general election.
The Umno veterans have earned the wrath of their party which today sacked both as members while Rais Yatim, who had been critical of the government recently, was being investigated for indiscipline. – May 5, 2018.
