FORMER Community Communications Department director-general Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff is being investigated for alleged sexual harassment, Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said.

The country’s top cop said the probe began following a report from J-Kom assistant officer Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani.

He said based on the report, the complainant alleged that the incident occurred at a hotel in Bintulu, Sarawak on October 21.

“Police have commenced investigations under sections 354 and 377D of the penal code (for criminal use of force to outrage the modesty of a person, and committing acts of gross indecency respectively),” he told Malay language daily Sinar Harian today.

The IGP said police will record statements from several people.

Yesterday, Wahab lodged another police report on a video of a conversation between Agus and an agency worker.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said Wahab lodged the report at 11am today at the Kajang district police headquarters.

He added that the case was being investigated by the Bukit Aman Classified Crime Investigation Unit.

Recently, a three-minute-long video showing an online conversation between a man allegedly resembling Agus and another individual went viral.

Agus claimed that the video had been edited and had lodged a police report regarding the matter.

Following the report, Wahab said he had been traumatised by video’s circulation and wanted to clear his name and seek justice. – December 1, 2023.
