Large crowds don't mean more votes for Pakatan, says Johor MB

THE thousands-strong crowd that attended the Pakatan Harapan (PH) ceramah last night in Malacca does not translate into support, said caretaker Johor menteri besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

Local Daily The Star Online reported him saying the support last night did not mean people will vote for PH over Barisan Nasional (BN).

“There was a large crowd because all their state and parliamentary candidates including national leaders were at the same event.

“The large gathering consisted of people from different voting areas. That large crowd yesterday does not mean Malacca will fall (to the opposition),” Khaled was quoted as saying.

The Umno man also said PH was planning to pull off a similar rally in Johor and voters should be wary.

“They keep saying they will win here and there but after the elections, they will be saying they lost because we (BN) cheated. Please do not believe them,” he added.

Thousands of people gathered around a makeshift tent for the ceramah which featured top PH leaders and past Umno ministers.

Former ministers Daim Zainuddin and Rafidah Aziz were also present to openly declare support for PH in this elections.

Among the PH leaders included PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu.

Majority of the people that attended were from the parliamentary constituency of Hang Tuah Jaya which used to be known as Bukit Katil.

The seat was altered after the redelianation process and is said to be a tough fight between PH incumbent Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin and former Malacca chief minister Mohd Ali Rustam, who wants to make a come back in Parliament. – May 5, 2018.
