THREE paragliders bearing PKR’s flag will fly over Teluk Intan to campaign for Pakatan Harapan (PH) the next two days.

The self-funded team, calling themselves “PH air force”, said they have received the required approval from the authorities.

“We started in Batu Pahat on nomination day, went to Labis, Ayer Hitam, and will be going to Bentong and Raub after this,” said C.K. Goh, one of the paragliders and a Kelantan voter.

They hope the excitement generated from their stunt will encourage more people to vote on May 9, especially outstation voters in marginal seats.

PH leaders had said the coalition needs at least a voter turnout of 85% to win the national elections.

Goh’s teammates, Alan Ho and Onn Isatin, said they have received enthusiastic response from voters in Batu Pahat and Labis.

A federal seat, Teluk Intan is seeing a multi-cornered fight between Gerakan president and incumbent Mah Siew Keong, Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming and PAS’s Dr Ahmad Ramadan.

Nga told local voters he expects a close fight with Mah.

About two out of five of the 66,487 voters in Teluk Intan are below 40 years old, many of whom work outstation.

Previously a BN stronghold, the seat fell to Pakatan Rakyat in 2008 and 2013.

Mah won back the seat for BN by 238 votes in the 2014 by-election. – May 4, 2018.
