IT engineer claims trial to insulting Islam


AN information technology engineer pleaded not guilty in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today to the charge of making and sending offensive communication that insult Islam on his Facebook in January.

Ahmad Feisal Mohd Kamil, 61, is accused of making and initiating the transmission of offensive communication with the intention of annoying others on the “Feisal Kamil” Facebook account at 12.17pm on January 10.

The link was then read at the Office of the Cyber and Multimedia Crime Investigation Division, Commercial Crime Investigation Department, Bukit Aman police headquarters, Menara KPJ in Wangsa Maju at 1.45pm on January 12.

Feisal was charged under section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which provides for imprisonment of one year or a fine of not more than RM50,000 or both, and a further fine of RM1,000 for each day the offence continues after conviction, if convicted.

Judge N. Priscilla Hemamalini allowed him bail of RM8,000 in one surety and fixed December 5 for mention.
